Ages 16+ | 5 weeks | 2-hour classes | $275
Thursdays 6-8pm, July 16 - August 13
Have you always wanted to try the pottery wheel? This 5-week beginner class is designed for adults who are brand new to wheel throwing or who have tried it once or twice and want more guided practice.
Over the course of five weeks, students will learn the basics of working on the pottery wheel, including centering clay, opening the form, pulling walls, shaping simple bowls and cylinders, trimming, and glazing. This class is relaxed, beginner-friendly, and focused on helping each student build confidence with the process.
Because wheel throwing takes practice, this class gives students time to learn, make mistakes, try again, and see their progress from week to week.
5 weekly 2-hour classes
Clay for class projects
Use of pottery wheels and studio tools
Step-by-step beginner instruction
Trimming instruction
Glazing instruction
Bisque firing and glaze firing
Up to 4 finished pottery pieces
Additional pieces may be fired if space allows for a small fee.
Students will begin by learning the foundations of throwing on the wheel, then continue building skills each week. We’ll spend time practicing basic forms, learning how to trim leather-hard pieces, and finishing the class by glazing selected work.
Finished pieces will be fired after the final class and available for pickup once they have gone through the kiln.
This class is messy, hands-on, and perfect for beginners. Please wear clothes and shoes (close-toed) that can get dirty, tie back any long hair, and keep fingernails trimmed if possible.
Space is limited to 6 students so everyone has plenty of time for individual help.
