Ages 18+ | Two 90-minute classes | $70
Thursdays @ 6:30-8:00pm July 23 & July 30
Students will design and build their own handmade ceramic planter using the pinch pot technique, then return the next week to add color and details with glaze. This two-week class is creative, hands-on, and a great fit for adults who want to work with real clay in a relaxed studio setting. No clay experience needed.
Maybe your planter has little feet, carved texture, a face, handles, stamped patterns, or a favorite color combination. It could be simple and modern, funny and character-inspired, nature-themed, or totally unique. We’ll have plenty of ideas available for anyone who wants help getting started.
During the first class, students will learn basic handbuilding techniques and create their planter from clay. You’ll practice shaping a pinch pot, refining the form, attaching decorative details, and adding texture. During the second class, you’ll paint your planter with colorful ceramic glazes. After class, we’ll fire everything in the kiln, and finished pieces will be ready for pickup about 2–3 weeks later.
The class includes:
Two 1.5-hour studio sessions (both sessions are required)
Clay, tools, instruction, and painting materials
Enough clay to create 1-3 pinch pot planters (depending on size)
Use of textures, stamps, and decorating tools
Professional kiln firing
Parking: Because parking is limited, we do encourage carpooling where possible.
Age range: This class is designed for ages 18+. But, if you have a teenager who would like to take the class with you, they are welcome to join as long as they will be there with another paid adult.
Finished pieces: Pottery can occasionally crack or change during drying and firing. We’ll do our best to help each student build strong pieces, but small imperfections are part of the handmade clay process. All pieces must be picked up within 30 days of notification that they are finished.
Cancellations/Refunds: Because space is limited and supplies are prepared ahead of time, cancellations made at least 7 days before the first class are eligible for a 50% refund. If you are unable to attend, you may also transfer your spot to another student in the correct age range. Please let us know at least the day before class begins so we can plan accordingly. Thanks for understanding.
